Since our founding in 1972, Northern Plains has recognized that whether we’re from the plains, mountains, cities or towns, all of us share the common goal to protect this place we love and call home. We began when neighbors organized themselves to defend their ranches, farms, and livelihoods from plans to strip mine huge swaths of eastern Montana. We’re inspired by that “neighboring” spirit of our founders, knowing we must stand shoulder-to-shoulder to tackle the problems of today that threaten our tomorrow.  Register for our annual meeting.

Engaging Tribal and Rural Communities in the Development of Passenger Rail Services in Southern Montana-Crow Nation MT

Engaging Tribal and Rural Communities in the Development of Passenger Rail Services in Southern Montana-Crow Nation MT

Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority (BSPRA) invites you to a crucial public meeting about revitalizing our communities with new passenger rail service. You will play an essential role in ensuring that Montana voices are heard and considered by officials making passenger rail decisions. BSPRA and MSU Local Government Center (LGC) are facilitating six community engagement meetings in rural and tribal Montana in Paradise, Ronan, Glendive, Forsyth, Lame Deer, and Crow Agency. The information gathered and the ensuing report will document how expanding passenger rail will contribute to the health and well-being of our respective communities. The report will be submitted to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and its recommendations will be submitted to Congress later this year, so this is on a very fast track!

These meetings are made possible by a grant awarded to BSPRA by the Montana Healthcare Foundation, "Engaging Tribal and Rural Communities in the Development of Passenger Rail Services in Southern Montana,". Your input is critical, needed, and valued! All are invited to attend, food will be provided and virtual attendance is available.

For questions contact Maggie Tupper, Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority at 406-426-9733.
