Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority bill moves to Senate with bipartisan support

House Bill 848 has successfully passed the Montana House with a 63-35 vote and is now advancing to the Senate. This pivotal legislation proposes an annual appropriation of $2 million to the Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority until June 30, 2031, marking the first state funding for our initiative.  

The bill received bipartisan support, with Representatives Ed Byrne (R-Bigfork) and Katie Zolnikov (R-Billings) advocating for its passage. The proposed funds will support planning, outreach, and organizational efforts, aiding local governments in securing larger grants and determining future passenger rail stops. Read more.
