Big Sky Rail annual meeting looks to the future

Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority hosted its annual meeting Friday to discuss several statewide projects on the fast track. The goal was to discuss recent accomplishments and set goals for the future.

Discussions on anticipated projects included hydrogen production to keep the rail environmentally stable and how a passenger rail will revitalize communities in the state. The organization noted railroads in Montana received a $15 million grant for rail improvements.

A key takeaway is that there are big changes on the way for Montana trains.

“We’re going to look back, and we’re going to see rail before the infrastructure bill, and then rail after the infrastructure bill, and I believe we are at that very pivotal moment of time,” said Jennifer Mitchell, the Deputy Administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration. Read more.
