Ukrainian CEO speaks virtually at rail summit in Billings

On day two of the Greater Northwest Passenger Rail Summit held in Billings and virtually, a special guest showed up to speak -- the CEO of Ukrainian Railways. Discussions included the importance of rail and how he has been able to navigate the rail system during a time of war with his country.

“We strive to survive, we strive to lead, even under constant shelling and keep running on schedule,” said CEO Alexander Kamyshin. “We find a way to repair, and we do daily. From the first day of the war, we have transferred 3.8 million people inside the country and 600,000 people outside of the country.” There was a standing ovation from the audience during the discussion as well as some poignant questions on how he has persevered with the challenges of war and rail.
